# Introduction

### What is Nichefire MCP

Nichefire MCP connects your AI assistant directly to Nichefire’s trend intelligence. You can ask questions in natural language, such as “What is emerging in specialty coffee?” or “What trends are we tracking for coffee makers?”, and receive answers based on current, sourced Nichefire data rather than the assistant’s existing knowledge.

### What MCP is

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI clients to external tools and data sources. A provider exposes its capabilities through an MCP server, and any MCP-compatible client can access them through a consistent interface. This removes the need to build and maintain a separate integration for each client.

Nichefire operates an MCP server that exposes the same capabilities to Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and compatible custom agents. For further information about the protocol, refer to the [official MCP documentation](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/getting-started/intro).

### What You Get

**Natural-language access.** Describe the information you need, and your assistant selects the appropriate Nichefire capability, executes the request, and incorporates the results into the conversation.

**Consistent capabilities across clients.** Each compatible client accesses the same tools and data. No separate integration or client-specific API is required.

**Structured, citable results.** Results are returned as structured data containing source links and relevant scores. This allows the assistant to reference exact figures, review original sources, and use previous results in follow-up requests.

**Research within your existing workflow.** Nichefire results are delivered directly in the same conversation as your briefs, analyses, and drafts, without requiring information to be copied between tools.

### What Is Included?

Nichefire MCP provides two main groups of capabilities:

**Firesearch.** Conducts live research across news sources, social platforms, and the open web to identify emerging trends and analyze them in detail. Each request uses current web data rather than a cached snapshot.

**Trend Insights.** Provides access to the trend topics and individual trends that your organization already tracks within Nichefire.

### What to Expect

Each client receives the same structured response, but presentation may vary. One client may display a rich trend widget, another may provide a formatted summary, and another may use plain text. The underlying data remains the same; its presentation is determined by the client.
